OpenAI and Thailand launch eight-week accelerator for 10 AI startups
OpenAI and Thailand are backing 10 startups as they move AI prototypes toward tested, deployable products in healthcare, wellness, and education.

OpenAI and Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation have launched an eight-week accelerator for local AI startups. The partnership, announced in Bangkok on August 28, is described in OpenAI News as OpenAI’s first public-private startup initiative with the Thai government.
The program’s first cohort includes 10 companies: CARIVA, Wello Food, Dietz, Precisionize, FitSloth, Curico, insKru, Floaino, EasyKids Robotics, and Globish. Five focus on medical or wellness applications, while five work in education. Partners include Thailand’s National Innovation Agency, Mahidol University, and Techsauce.
From prototype to deployment
Each startup will receive US$2,000 in OpenAI API credits, a dedicated mentor, one-on-one technical support, and access to OpenAI’s latest frontier models. Weekly sessions will address product design, engineering, testing, evaluation, responsible AI, privacy, security, costs, growth, and fundraising.
The teams must set a product, pilot, evaluation, or commercial target for the eight-week program. By its conclusion, they are expected to show a working product or major upgrade, feedback from representative users, early evaluation results, and a realistic implementation plan.
That focus could matter to builders beyond Thailand. In health and education, a compelling demo is only an early step: teams must prove reliability, manage safety risks, and establish a sustainable route to deployment. OpenAI says Thailand ranks among the top 20 countries for weekly ChatGPT users, while Codex usage there has grown more than 350-fold since the start of 2026.
One example is CARIVA, which is building a multilingual hospital voice agent for appointment requests and potential emergency detection. It aims to pilot the system in a live hospital call flow by Demo Day. Curico, meanwhile, is developing AI learning tools for children, families, and educators.
